I've always hoped Strasburg would get one of the larger PRR operational.

Where would they run it? Same place any "Friends" type group would, I suppose. PRR 1220 and 1223 ran off line excursions in PA, as did PRR #1361, so it is possible. A lease would be more likely but would the Museum allow it (again)? As for PRR #520, well, a great looking Baldwin built engine to be sure, but maybe not the best example of Pennsy power, at least not "home grown" Altoona Works built representative.

She looks a little naked without her boiler jacket, but your photo does show a lot of good boiler detail not normally visible. As far as the comments about restoring a PRR locomotive goes, any PRR steamer would suit me just fine....but I am partial to the larger Pennsy steam. Thanks for sharing.

Many Railfanners not know this but 520 was in a nasty boiler explosion back in 1942 in cresson pa
