I can't wait to see what it's like when it's restored. It's great to see that a Rio Grande hood unit is getting saved.

They should have worked out a trade with RailServe which bought the two Hartwell ex-Grande GP30's for genset fodder, those were in running condition and this would have worked just as well for genset fodder. Do hope they get this one restored eventually though.

I suppose people do need to be told it is an "Oversize Load". If this was here in the U.K. the guy on the roof would need a hard hat, high viz. jacket and all sorts of thing probably including "A Working at Height" Certificate.

Here's a scanned Kodachrome transparency of the 3011 back in October 1973: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=417277&nseq=6

The Museum has begun work on it as of last fall. I'm excited to see it too.

Man at the red light explaining why the engine is on the highway; Son, that train or engine is on this road because soon they will be putting a railroad through here and then we will have to sit at a light somewhere else. Son; But dad, it don't have wheels, how will it roll, Father; it will use that truck to get around, stupid.
