Interesting architecture and geology.

This shot is awesome and is on my bucket list to do. Maybe this year! With closure of Napier Gisborne line, this viaduct is now 3rd highest. (The highest now is the North Rangitikei Viaduct a few miles up the line but not nearly as accessible or photogenic as South Rangitikei.) The piers are designed to be resilient in earthquakes for which the area is considered fairly high risk.
