5 units for less than 30 loads, wow, it must really be steep here. 4% plus? This shot reminded me of another RPN contributor Jean-Marc Frybourg, who has extensively documented Chile and Peru's unique railroads. In fact, I thought it was his! Very nice work.

Indeed this route has many slopes, especially from Mejillones to the summit, is the more difficult route (which corresponds to the picture). And it becomes more difficult as the trains with acid must climb loaded. The slope is approximately 3.5%, may be a bit more, but not more than 4%. And I tell you, the train is not long, but the five locomotives working with all his might in that route!. Many greetings to you.
