Too bad it isn't a Kriegslok.

I like the way the running gear is painted red that makes it stand out from the rest of the engine. This appears to be a 4-8-0 wheel configuration am I correct?

Yes, it is a Krieglok--BR 52 2-10-0. It is an unusual engine as it is in it original as built condition. Note austere construction relying mostly on welding. Most BR52s preserved in Germany are 52.80 versions or rekoloks which were the product of a heavy rebuilding program in East Germany during the 1960s. The BR52.80s could be had for scrap price when the wall came down as lots were stored having been withdrawn just a few yeas prior.
