This rail train did not go to the new Westland Branch as indicated as it actually went to W&LE's River Line below Mingo Junction. The rail for the new Westland Branch came from Massachusetts and was 2nd hand, was routed CSX from Selkirk to Philly, then to Cumberland with delivery to the W&LE at Connellsville, Pennsylvania. The W&LE then moved the welded rail train to Mingo Junction for storage which lasted just about a week before moving it back to the new Westland Branch for unloading, which took two days.

A technical notation. The Westland Branch is not W&LE property. It is actually a "Private" rail spur built for MarkWest LLC of Denver, but through a lease agreement with the Montour Trail. The Montour Trail owns the property and leases its to MarkWest. Maintenance of the Westland Branch rail line is the responsibility of MarkWest and currently assigns Balfour Beatty that responsbility. The 4 flasher crossings are also maintained by MarkWest/Balfour Beatty. Its a interesting arrangement to say the least.
