Nice - you clinched that shot. Though I've never seen #1 active, I have seen it where it sits today at the B&O Railroad Museum. Thanks for sharing!

I remember that trepidation very well. :) I was in the Army at the time, and en route to Fort Huachuca, AZ when this trip ran. We ended up running steam-only with the "One Spot" at least three or four other times that I recall. Notice F7A number 800---which still exists today as "C&O 8016" on the Potomac Eagle. In viewing recent shots of this unit posted on RP.net (for a photo charter), I've seen it classed by contributing photographers as everything from an E7A (!) to an F3A and also an FP7A, none of which are correct. In truth, it was built as an F5A for the Clinchfield, but later upgraded to F7A specs. Take your pick. And---nice shot, as always!
