Photo is taken at Bena,a helper engine storage track.That power on the left is probably waiting to help this Eastbound.

SP bought the SD39's with the idea of being the replacement engines for the aging SD9.That never happened.The first one I saw was the 5311 in the siding in Lancaster,Calif. when brand new.The engineer was Randall (golden arm)Lewis.He opened all the hoods for me and said "look,only 12 cylinders!. That was back in the day believe me.
