Juan ignacio... Can you help us out here a little --- what do you mean by "collided by a formation behind passenger?" Exactly what happened in your photo? Did the locomotive hit something solid and the passenger car behind it crunched into it? Is that what you mean? Thank you.

In this picture you can see two different trains. The blue cars belongs to a commuter train, stopped in a red signal. The locomotive was an intercity train, that dont respect the red signals, and crashed into the stopped train

This accident happened in the afternoon on Feb. 16th, 2011. Not in 2012. In that occasion, one so called long distance passenger train, which was operating its service from Retiro Station in Buenos Aires to another city, rear ended a commuter train in San Miguel. A couple of hours later, the damaged coach and locomotive were still there, covered by darkness of night.
