Having worked in the steel industry for years and visited this plant in the ‘80’s , this photo piqued my interest. Especially with no apparent smoke fumes observable from the blast furnaces shown in the picture. Upon searching Wikipedia, I found an almost identical (but definitely different) photo of the plant complete with a stack train in the foreground. The accompanying 2007 story said that plant demolition was imminent and a Sands Casino project was to be built. I am wondering if that happened.

The Sands Casino was indeed built on the old grounds, Paul. The original intention was for the contractors to demolish these iconic blast furnaces back in 2008, but after some careful consideration and planning, they decided to keep them in order to preserve the history of Bethlehem Steel. Since then, they have also built a new venue called 'Steel Stacks' which is run by the Arts Quest of Bethlehem and is located behind the line of stack cars. Musikfest has numerous events held around this general area as well. It's really nice to see them keeping the history of steel-making alive in Bethlehem. Thanks for looking!
