According to news accounts, there have been four pedestrian/train accidents (including an 11-year-old boy, who survived but was severely injured) and three fatalities in Chicagoland in less than a WEEK! Everyone's asking what the railroad must do, but how about what we "pedestrians" must do, especially in this particular metro area where it's an understatement to say "there are a lot of trains"? Tragically, I remember the pedestrian accident video (and would like to forget it) of a woman being hit maybe a decade or two ago by what appeared to be a Chicago commuter train, but it appears some haven't seen it. PLEASE be careful around trains, ladies, gentlemen and children! (And I myself have made mistakes...once when railfanning Kansas Avenue in Memphis I almost stepped into the path of a westbound BNSF freight.)
