Very likely. Early WP GP40s had the old bulb-type headlights and did not have the "trough" under the numberboard structure. I would almost guess the entire structure was replaced at some point, possibly when they converted to sealed beams. It would take some measurements. How's that for a hypothesis in forensic rivet counting. Oh well, it's fun, as long as we never forget it's not important.
