There's nothing like riding in a speeder. We used one in Maine to access a bridge construction site. The contractor bought the old Fairmont just for the one project. On cold or rainy days, we were very thankful that he invested in new curtains upon his purchase. The best part? Turning it around on its built-in turntable to head back.

We used a similar rig on Welding Crew #3 of the Burlington Northern in Montana. The curtains were welcome, but didn't do a good job when it was very cold. We had to pour hot coffee on the carburator when it was about 20 below. One time, it took all the coffee of three lunches to make a trip before Amtrak came thru. These 4-bangers could move pretty good in a pinch. A workhorse for any crew.
