Bad location for a clean up too. Wonder if any actually went over the side?

From what I can remember, a rail underneath one of the cars broke, sending at least seven loaded cars into the river in addition ones that fell into people's backyards. I was just starting high school when this happened so I don't remember very much about detour routes and how long clean up took, but this did prompt NS to re-deck the bridge the following summer when several intermodal trains were detoured via Buffalo and Binghamton, NY.

Thank goodness they didn't go off the bridge!

Did this cause the second track to fall off the bridge partially?

Many cars went off the bridge. Look it up, people. http://www.ntsb.gov/doclib/reports/2008/RAR0802.pdf
