Wow, 'rare' doesn't even start to do this scene justice! Such a working can't have happened very many times. This location is now the section of double track called Canyon Siding, stretching from Sullivan's Curve almost to Mormon Rocks.

What you don't see in this photograph is our tape recorder in the cab of the 9177. The crew recorded the trip from Slover siding near West Colton Yard all the way to the summit at Hiland. As they approached the summit, the brakeman handed down the recorder to us. We got tape recorded 45 minutes of radio talk, crew comments, and those four diesel locomotives in run 8.
