I heard this was 70 cars rolled out of a yard and was doing 50 mph no a 10 mph track and derailed. Then a locomotive that was chasing them slammed into the derailment.

What a story! This was the last thing Pan Am needed to deal with before being busy with the blizzard. I remember a similar story of two CSX cars running out of a yard in Irvine, KY a few years ago, but there was no time to chase them with a locomotive. Instead, CSX set two locomotives in the way of the runaway cars to keep them from crashing into the town. They didn't even have time to set freight cars in the way, so the locomotives were sacrificed.
