I think 685 is an H8s consolidation. The H8 remained a hand fired, manually reversed engine from when it was built, either at Baldwin or Juniata/Altoona, to the end.I'd bet the only change would have been her being changed to an H8s when superheated during the '20s, if she hadn't been built with it. A nice shot of a nice, economical machine.

Hey, where it says "Locomotive Details » Pennsylvania Railroad (more..)» Steam 2-6-0 (more..)" That 2-6-0 needs to be fixed to 2-8-0. These have been one of my favorite locos since way back when Model Die Casting/Roundhouse had die cast metal kits for them. Never did have one of Bowser's kits. Have read that these were pretty decent performing locomotives. Wonder what the fellow is doing to the Baldwin over there.

In a letter I have from the PRSL Office in Camden, NJ stating #685 is a H9s. Letter is dated Feb. 06, 1957 and still in Camden in Sept. 17, 1957
