I recently found the NTSB report on the derailment. It happened on March 3, 1983 at 5:10 am, under cloudy conditions. It states that the train struck a vehicle, resulting in the derailment. Speed of the train was 23 mph, the engineer was aware of impending accident; brakes were applied; horn was sounded. It states that one person was injured, having been thrown from the seat/position in the derailment. So thankful there were no fatalities.
