Following the combine, the 14 cars for skiers are former Canadian National Tempo cars, which were some of the earliest intercity cars built for use with head end power locomotives. The last two cars are Rio Grande official cars, the first a former Rock Island, nee-M&StL, Budd-built coach, and the Wilson McCarthy, an open platform office car converted from a Grande P-S lightweight coach.

I am very glad that I can say that I got to ride this train in this configuration except for the GP-60s. The one I rode had three older GP units .

Given the date and ground conditions, this must have been a special excursion rather than the ski train. (No snow.)

The lack of snow in this location is typical for the Denver area during winter where its is considerably warmer than the higher elevations of the mountains. If you look at the map location, you'll see that the line is just starting to approach the foothills.

I went ahead and deleted everything I took from Colorado last month. No need in trying to even compete with this, at all! ;-) Nice shot, Craig! Post some more stuff from out west!
