A very rare shot indeed of a locomotive that disappointed both it's builder and owner alike. While 200 remained the Valley's only Baldwin roadswitcher, contemporary Alco RS2s ran rings around the 200. In spite of that, the older RS2s, 210-212, (all first) were sent to Penn Central in exchange for newer and servicable former PRR RS3s at about the same time the lonely Baldwin was quietly sent to EMD as a trade in on a GP38AC.

Neat shot, don't see to many Baldwins. To bad Baldwin could not make it in the Diesel loco business.

Nice! Back then, you only had to look at the livery to know where you were. Can never have too many Lehigh Valley photos - nor Baldwin. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Truly a winner in anybody's book. I agree with Mitch - can't get enough LV pictures! Thank you, sir, for sharing this super rare shot.

"Disappointed its builder" - yes. But "disappointed its owner"? not really! ;) The LV bought this unit new in 1948..They traded it in 24 years later, in 1972. Many EMD's and Alcos from that era didnt live nearly as long..
