Superb, absolutely mind blowing. That could be me with my mother on the platform; we lived in Chester in '58! Chester General was a feast of ex LMS and ex-GW steam power at that time; now its virtually all multiple units, though the station hasn't changed that much since this was taken.

A gorgeous reminder of how wonderful Kenneth Field's work is. Me and my bicycle never made it to Chester, but the interior of the 'old' Leeds City station was similar and equally atmospheric.
