I am enjoying these photos very much. I was born in 1939 making me just old enough, at the time of theses photos, to apreciate the beauty of the times. Although I am from America and not the UK, we had similar railroad sights just slightly different equipment thats all. Thank you, again, for posting memories for those such as I.

Thanks Brian for posting another period gem from Kenneth's camera. Passenger traffic on this 1849-built two-mile branch into the attractive Pennine foothills ceased in 1955 though freight lingered on until final closure in late 1963, The trackbed is now a very pleasant country footpath & cycleway and the terminus station buildings at Delph still survives as a private house.
