Trains on these parallel tracks are looking very close each other. Do you know what a distance between them?

In a response to the first comment, I think the writer is questioning what the “minimum” clearance either is in this case, or what should be as mandated by the government or the railroad itself. I checked the US Federal Railroad Administration which in essence turns over this responsibility to each individual state. In checking the WV DOT, I could not easily find a direct reference without spending much time looking for it. I did find a reference with MDOT (Michigan) which gives a current minimum distance between parallel & adjacent RR tracks at 14-ft. from the centerline of each track. NS or the former NW may have its own standards which could be more conservative than the state requirements . I agree that the illusion of a “tight” clearance is evident when you look at the lead locomotive, but if you check the gap near the back curve between the cars, the clearance appears much greater. I am sure the gap remains constant in this photo.
