It's astounding that someone, back then, no less, could look at those mountains and envision - build - a railroad through those mountains! Nice catch, Tish - luck out on a flight or is that simply a great vantage point off a parallel highway?

Mitch, no "highway" within miles of here--a rough jeep trail provides access, and a high rocky spur through which Tunnel 17 bores is the vantage point. This location is a large horseshoe curve with Tunnel 16 at its apex. All on a 2% grade.
