The 'ol 4403 has led an interesting life on the Soo. In her 35 year career, the 4403 is now on her third paint schme and fourth lettering scheme. She was delivered in 1977 as the fourth GP38-2 on the Soo roster in then-standard grey and red and numbered as the 793 but with RED cab numbers and large SOO lettering. As an aside, the ten units of that order (Soo 790-799) were the only Soo units to ever get the red lettering. It was soon renumbered to the 4403 and after several years it was re-lettered to black numbers and large Soo. It was then selected to be the first unit painted in Soo's new Candy Apple Red scheme and debuted from the Shoreham paint booth on July 27, 1989. She was recently repainted to her third and current scheme of CP red shown here.
