Absolutely stunning, Steve. What a beautiful train. Thanks for sharing this.

Beautiful!!! IMO, it was THE best passenger scheme. A true classic.

Technically-speaking, this would be a BN train, since the merger took place the month before. However, this is clearly a pure NP train--and one of the best pre-Amtrak operations in the country. Again, Steve, this is an outstanding shot.

Everything needed to bring the view "there". Cool shot, Tim!

WOW!! From a fan of warbonnets, this is simply breathtaking! Sorry steam guys, this is the apex of railroading - the colorful streamliner era. Put down your rocks and star nails, steam fans, I do like big steam, but what is better than a matched streamliner?!!

Wow, not much more that can be said that hasn't already been said, other than thanks for posting the beauty.

I still say the square cabs they are producing these days just cannot even begin to compare with the old round nose E and F units of yesteryear for beauty and appeal. Even the new Amtrak engines just don't quite make it. Steve this is just about the best passenger train photo anyone could ever make. Thank you for sharing it with us.

The passengers had some awesome scenery to witness. I can't think of a better way to travel!

I can almost smell NP's famous "Great Big Baked Potato" wafting from the dining car... This part of the Montana Rockies is breathtaking. What a priceless shot! The best part is, that BN mothballed the line in the 80's. It is still intact, not having yet succombed to becoming a rail trail.

Almost as if it was a promo shot or calendar shot for the NP. Nice work.
