Strange bedfellows... Like NYC and S&A. Hope they are separated shortly. Nice job with the paint schemes, NS!

If N&W had pulled off the VGN and Wabash mergers closer together, this could have happened.

Wabash #1070 with its stunning color scheme was on hand with Illinois Terminal #1072 on the western leg of NKP steamer #765’s tour put on by Norfolk Southern and the Fort Wayne Historical Society as part of the NS 30th Anniversary Employee Appreciation Special. I was fortunate to participate in one of the four “free rides” offered over former Wabash trackage from Berkley, MO to St. Peters, MO on September 8th & 9th. It was a first class operation put on by NS that included vehicle parking, golf cart “curb service” from the parking lot to train boarding, tents, chairs, and available food service. Even Mr. Andy Fletcher whose artistic renderings of all the NS heritage designs was on hand signing a stack of free posters of all 20 locomotive designs.
