Amazing that we're looking out the cab window of a N&W Mollie that was 50 years old at the time and still in regular service. Thanks for sharing, Steve!

And--things would continue to heat up at Abingdon after 88 passed. Coming west (south) right on the Creeper's markers would be train 45, the Tennessean. At the time, the eight daily passenger trains on this line were still handled by the N&W class J 4-8-4s (or K2A Mountains at times). At Bristol, the inbound J would give way to a pair of green Southern Railway PAs. What a wonderful time and place to experience railroading!
