I remeber when I was 13 in 1991-1992 and seeing these freshly rebuilt and painted for MK (Motive Power Industries) running on the SP over Donner Pass. I still see these units on a somewhat regular basis pass through in Western PA in the original paint! I damn near tear up and am flooded with memories. How appropriate that it is MU'ed to a former speed lettered SP SD40 rebuild (by MK as well)! Too bad this is in Kentucky and not NorCal! Thank you for the fine photo Joe! Two of the finest SD40s I have ever seen...at age 13 and 36!

Unbelievable that an ex-MPI and a ex-Speed Lettered SP SD40 are still running around on a Class 1 in 2012! Great catch and photo.
