Prefer the bus but not a fan of the stop and go traffic of the highways? GM's new Aerotrain is for you! Great catch, John! Thanks for sharing these.

The LWT12 power unit was quite successful, but the re-designed bus bodied cars just were not practical. Had they been successful, there might have been more of these Harley Earle influenced beasts built. Two of the three are preserved, highly unusual for a "flop". They look strange on a traditional PRR landmark like the Rockville-Marysville bridge.

The Aerotrain is one of my favorite locomotives, and this is a great picture of one in action. Thanks for sharing it with us.

This is the first color picture that I've seen of these experimental trains. I kind of wish they would have beem successful. Thanks for the great picture.

I, honestly, believe that had this train come along in this time period instead of the mid fifties it may have stood a chance of staying alive and prospering.

GM was on a roll back then, and this was supposed to be the train of the future. Thanks for the upload of unique train.

Wow what a classic photograph of the "future".
