I don't believe it would have worked better, but it sure would have looked better if they had painted that nose anything but bright red. It looks as if some giant punched it and gave it a bloody nose.

I think this paint livery suffered from the need to make new things splashy in the 70's. After all it was an airplane without wings. The original Penn Central scheme was more laid back and would have been fine at the time.

I took the Turbo to NY once and the ride was awful. The train bounce around so much that it's a wonder that there were not people losing their lunches. I think the set was too light in order to make it faster.
