NS is really doing a terrific job with getting all the details right on their heritage locomotives. Its a beautiful shot until you see the rusty front coupler

Ah, nothing like fresh paint being coated with fresh rain

Awesome shot to debut this unit Casey! Hoping to see this on the point of a P-Line train in the near future!

The lightning adds a nice touch. "It's alive!"

Beautiful! Another home run shot, Casey! It seems like each time you release a new paint shot, it just gets better and better. Are we foamers gonna have any adrenaline left after the last one is released?? :)

This NS Heritage Unit is sure one "Electronically Charged" unit getting the highest juice available to get her career started. Amazing Shot!

To Chad: ALL new couplers are rusty. It's a Federal violation to paint them, as it prevents inspectors from finding cracks. Note that the wheels are unpainted as well. Same reason. See also: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=258576&nseq=5 Beautiful locomotive, BTW.

This just keeps getting better and better!! At this rate I may try dusting off the cameras that I stuck on the shelf with the end of Kodachrome, or have my Wife/Kids try to teach me how to run one of those digital things and head for West Virginia. Thanks NS/N&W for doing a great job on the heritage units and being a great company to have owned shares in for the last 35 years!

Oh my....this is simply breathtaking...the paint and the photo. Nicely done NS....nicely done Casey!

NS and Casey: using a baseball term, you guys went yard again. When's the next heritage unit due out? My heart needs time to stop fluttering. Love it.

Having ridden "The Man of War" many years ago, behind Central of Georgia E-8s that wore this paint scheme. This brings back many fond memories. I want to give many thanks to all Norfolk Southern people involved in the Heritage Project, Job Well Done !
Posted by Chad Karschner on April 6, 2012
Thanks Mark, never knew that. As a sidenote I say the next Heritage Unit that is finished will be the Original Norfolk Southern or Norfolk Western

Love this picture. From a weather buff side, capturing the lightning bolt makes this picture more intriguing. Great Job!!!!

This one stings me in my heart. The bolt of lighting hitting Missionary Ridge is a true rep of Chattanooga. It doesn't get much better than this. We had one Hell of a good crew painting locomotives when I was there. Looks likes we still do!!
