EXCELLENT ! Your use of GREAT composition makes a photo of a subject which was fairly mundane (then) on a so-so day, and in a relatively monotone environment into a REALLY EXCELLENT and artistic photo. THANKS for sharing.

Sam... This is a wonderful photo that Mr. Golden took and thank you for sharing it with us! Sadly, North Judson is just a shadow of its former self and everything you see in this photo (including the tower it was shot from) is gone. I'd also like to note that this is the second time this EL freight has crossed the former PRR Panhandle line is northwestern Indiana. Just 14 miles ago (back west) the EL crossed the Panhandle in Kouts, and needless to say, everything is now gone there as well. Thanks for the memories...

Great Photo. I had the opportunity to visit Judson and Kouts several times in late 1975 and early '76 before Conrail came into being and all EL traffic was re-routed almost immediately to the PRR Ft. Wayne line. Living in Plymouth along this line made for some lively evenings hanging around the tower when the TV freights literally freight trained thru town. Even though very, very little remains in N.J. aside from the Hoosier RR Museum, there is still a signal bridge located about 40 miles east of Judson near Laketon, IN. It's a ghostly reminder of a time long past and is accessible if you care to venture down the ROW from the nearest country crossroad to the west. It resides in between two farm fields. Google Earth it at 40 degree 58 hour 29.99 minutes N / 85 degree 51 hour 41.72 minutes W. Thanks again for the memories.

Rich Brown's comment was on the mark. Fantastic photo and composition. Nostalgic, yet so much more. PC from me, hopefully a few dozen others.
