Well done NS! Very impressive color scheme and can't wait to see the rest of the heiritage units. The Conrail unit, in my opinion only, is somewhat plain looking. Now if CN Rail would do something like this for us Canadian rail fans?

A modern classic.

I like how they even included the Southern computer check letter. That's a very Southern feature. Glad to see NS honoring its future with great nods to its past.

Very Awesome. Just checked out the March 1st article on the NS home page. Really looking forward to seeing these fallen flags being represented. I grew up with Conrail just a few houses down from mine as a kid. I still remember seeing old Pre CR Blue engines. Way to go NS!

When I was much younger, I can remember driving our old TAG RR pick-up truck to Andover, VA & Jellico, TN to apply the check digits to what we referred to then as "60 day units". This was in the days of the "30 day" cab card. SOU had groups of locomotives that were good for 60 days and were "field carded" for FRA inspections. The units around Andover and Jellico weren't due back in Chattanooga by the deadline we had for application of the check digits. You didn't miss deadlines. Hence, my trip. I used to be able to work out the correct check digits in my head, but that was a long time ago. I'm glad someone remembered the details. Thanks Wick! It's been a long time since Greensboro. Terry

Looks great! Let's hope the other class I's take note of what NS is doing. This is a heritage program done the right way. BNSF should follow suit, I'd love to see a GEVO in Burlington Northern's whiteface scheme.

Hopefully the 8099 will pay a visit to Spencer, NC in the near future. This would look great along side Southern FP7 6133 and E8 6900.

What is the "K" stand for behind the 8099 on the cab?
