The Kaiser units normally handled the ore trains from Eagle Mountain to Ferrum where SP crews and power would take over for the trip to Fontana. These units occasionally made it to Taylor Yard for maintenance. SP also had a fleet of U30C's (and a few U28C's) that worked heavy trains over Beaumont Pass and the Tehachapis.
