That "youngster" would have to be at least 60 years old by now. These shots (which are excellent) illustrate the total lack of protocol back then for railroad photography. No one seemed to care if they were in someone's shot. That was even true at photo run-bys, where people would be standing all over the place (as well as on the equipment). It was truly a different era!

It sure was different time. The other shots of the series show people in suits and ties while on their day off in the filthy engine area. Back then, dressing in suits or dresses when leaving the house was expected. This was to show your middle class respectability. "Dungarees" (jeans to you youngsters) were frowned upon. In this series, only children are in them. If only my Dad had known, I could have been there even though I would not be even in kindergarden for a year or two (Ron is correct, i am in my 60's.) I must admit I am glad there are people are in the shots. It shows better that humans cannot resist railroads. Very wonderful shots as always John.
