Seems like I captured the same thing in one of my photos from the Opelika-Auburn area but I can't remember the locomotive number. At first, I thought it was a "section" flag or flag stick, but it isn't based upon closer inspection. Any ideas, Tom? Posted by J Holland on January 25, 2016  A number of the GA/WPR GP7/9's had the pipe coming out of the upper side of the short hood. I was told that it was a whistle.
