Great shot, Travis! I just love the mood in this shot as well as the abundant color. I'm excited it made it on. :)

Very different Travis. I like it!

All is right once again! I was at my witz end these past few months over the Travisty of your absence on RP. This is classic Dewtz! A dynamic and well captured scene that stands on it's own but could also, with or without intent, remind us that the railroad never sleeps and is always an integral part of everyday society. Now, just imagine if this scene had been captured within an actual diner!

Great creativity to pull these elements together, Travis.

How'd THIS make it in? Great job, Travis--the bar should be this high for all photos on the BEST railroad photo site on the net!
Posted by Michael Harding on November 29, 2011
Great shot! Glad this made it on the site.

I like people who think inside the bar! Seriously, this is a fantastic photo.

Thumbs up Travis, wonderful shot!

Took me awhile to notice the railroad element. Awesome picture!

Oh, my...loving this shot! So much to look at with great detail, and yet the locomotive works well as a focal point.

Wow, Travis, this is fantastic! Love all the color and details... plus how the bar leads your eye to the UP Geep. Thanks for running this, RP.net!

Great scene and photo Travis. That's a place that I would like to hang out and have a beer, or four.

This, my friends, is vision. And then execution, what great color.

Great shot! I always wanted to go there! Good to see it still around.

Excellent concept and execution. Great image!

Travis, one of your best. You really captured this one perfectly. Wonderful composition. My vote for a PCA.

Well played good sir, well played.

Honestly, this makes most shots on the site seem insignificant. No gimmicks here, just pure well thought out artistry. Nice work in all aspects of the shot. There are just so many thoughts and sounds generated by this image--no words required although the 400 Club reference adds even more character, as if any more was needed.

That is beyond creative and beyond. PCA.

Railroads is not always about "trains" Great shot and great piece of history.
Posted by Jim Thias on November 29, 2011
Awesome job! Too bad they probably don't serve any "good" beer there. ;-)

The best part about this picture is the 4.00 Jose Cuervo special and the heggies pizza sign on the mirror :)

Excellent shot Travis. I've stopped at the 400 Club before, but didn't think to take such a sweet picture.

Bartender! A round for Mr Dewitz, on me!

Couldn't be better!!! Now all you need to do is head up to Wausau for a matching shot (and an beer) at the Hiawatha! Oh, yeah. Go Pack, go!!!!

At first glance, when I saw all of the comments on the thumbnail, I was certain that it would be the 'nay-sayers' who would argue that this was not train/railroad-related. Then when I saw the full view, I was even more surprised that there were none... Then I saw the data list "GP-40-2; UP 1353"...? Seriously.....? WHERE? Ah-hah! Very clever, Trav. You've out-done yourself!

I like how different it is, feels hometown too. Voted...

You just gave this bar free advertisement, guess where I'm now gonna head to should I ever visit Altoona WI.
Posted by Ken Huard on December 6, 2011
Just trainy enough to get on RP! Great thinking out of the box!
Posted by on December 6, 2011
Neat photo reminds me of a Winston Link photo, where he would put the trains in context to their enviorment.
Posted by Dave Howarth Jr. on December 8, 2011
I have only been to Altoona once in my life and did photograph the "400" Club while parked outside watching yard activities. I never did get the chance to stop on in but with seeing this photo, I now know what to expect next time I travel up that way. Great Shot! PCA
