Hopefully they will be rebuilt. Be a shame to waste the ACES. Can't see them being used as organ donors as it looks like the major organs have already been donated.

Is the front axle of the rear truck of the rear unit missing? It could be a shadow, but the other wheels are not in shadow and the axle bearings appear to be missing. How is it allowed to travel like that?

I photographed UP 8491 a little over 3 hrs before the Chatsworth accident, I believe it is the last photo of her in service. http://www.flickr.com/photos/greenspunn/2851546629/ It's sad to see her like this now.

David, to answer your first question: Yes, the first axle is missing. To answer your second question: Very carefully.

Yes the axle is there. The units are going to be scraped after litigation is all settled.
