The result of the conversion looks like a straight GP40, except for the late model "Q" fans and the extra bulge atop the blower duct. In Matt's view of the glossy Geep, one can even see where the two GP38 stack openings were covered with sheet metal!

How much horsepower?

According to the www.altoonaworks.info website, NS' GP22ECO's are good for 2200 HP, but have been derated to 2000 HP. This particular locomotive started life as N&W GP38AC 4117. The rebuild date is listed as 10/2011. This was one of the unit's first shakedown runs out of Altoona.
