I think you can stand in the cab of the one at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis and I know you can in the UP 4017 in the National Railway Museum in Green Bay, WI. Great shot, nonetheless.

Big locomotive, big cab. It's fun to try and identify all the controls. I have gotten to the point where I know most of the big ones. It's all those little valves that drive me crazy! The controls look pretty well laid out. Lima was the best at that, Baldwin the worst. So it make sense Alco was in the middle. Interesting that the oil can shelf is not centered but toward the engineer. Nice shot and thanks for sharing.

That's all about to change. The Union Pacific is gonna do exactly that. Get No# 4014 back into mainline service in a few years.
