Actually, there is away to dim an oil headlight. Since the rules required it to be on so as to be seen by other trains (and it's a pain to light an oil lamp) metal mesh cloth could be hung over the lamp lens so not to blind the oncoming train crew. The photo is yet another well composed, superb color & contrast photo from Mr. Madore.
