Great shot. This location is different now, much more treed in. Also, this is actually CRR 8131, this unit was delivered new in Family Lines paint to the Clinchfield Railroad in September 1981. It was part of an order by SCL and L&N of SD40-2's. These units were just delivered and came equipped with strobes on top of the cabs. This order, the last order of C30-7's and the first SBD order of SD50's had nose mounted headlights and roof mounted strobes. Prior orders of SD40-2's had nose mounted headlights and a pyle gyralight inbetween the numberboards. Seaboard System Railroad did not exist until October of 1983, the first (and only) new units purchased by SBD were SD50's.

This was probably taken not long after the 1981 Unicoi County Apple Festival that is always the first weekend in October. 8131 and 8132 were delivered brand new from EMD and 8131 was put on display with a "houseboat" caboose for the Apple Festival as Clinchfield's brand new modern power.
