Nice to see a photo of the bridge in Smith Falls with a train on it. I have been going to Smith Falls since 1992, the CN depot was in shambles, Track still existed to the bridge and it was intact still cept for a fire in the signal shanty. It remains in the upright position for passage of boats on the Rideau Canal in the summer. The counter weight was so perfectly balanced that in case of power outage, a hand crank could raise and lower the bridge. It would take some time, but it did work. Smith Falls CN depot is now restored to it former, the track to the bridge is still there, but no rides from the museum anymore since the local hardware store bought the land for expansion. If ever in Smith Falls, be sure to pull off and view the bridge and watch the boats pass thru the lcoks on the Rideau Canal.
