2924 and 2923 are the same in the number series but they are not identical. Please note that 2924 has two exhaust stacks while 2923 has the Illinois Central's "Hot Rod" exhaust manifold with four stacks. There is a possibility that both of these began life as Southern Railway SD-24s.
