The unit behind 5008 is a minor celebrity, in that 409 remained in one of Lehigh Valley's red paint schemes, until it was retired by D&H in the early '80's.

While I LOVE the "grittiness" of these older engine terminal scenes, I remain amazed (perhaps appalled) at the amount of lube oil and diesel fuel that was allowed to be spilled or leaked onto the ground. Thankfully, preventing and cleaning up these spills and leaks is one of the areas of real progress most American railroads have made in the past several decades.
