Ewan Crawford, webmaster of the excellent 'Railscot' website (a 'must view' for all UK enthusiasts) has identified this location as coming back off the Bonnybridge (Canal) Branch - heading back to Greenhill Upper. The houses on the skyline still exist on the B816 (Broomhill Road), though the branch and this embankment have long been erased from the landscape. This was on the train's itinerary that day and would have been about 4pm. How's that for detail? - Thanks Ewan.
