Another winner on RP Dave. I lived in Rockville Maryland along the Brunswick Line from 1990-1995 when I was but a young one. Since I was that young I don't directly remember, but I vaguely recall that I saw among other things relevant to early 90s CSX and Amtrak, ex BN Es, Fs and Budd cars(ex B&O) run through this territory. While I am in no way a fan of the newer equipment that MARC, VRE and other such agencies are receiving it is amazing to see what can be done with a subject that seems so unattractive or ugly in a railroad sense. Well, thats just my humble opinion. By the way, those cars the train is pulling are historically right at home. These coaches are refitted and refurbished ex Pennsy cars that have gone through at least three different paint jobs.

The coaches in that train are 1980's Sumitomo cars, quite similar to the rolling stock used on the South Shore. All MARC's ex-PRR coaches have been retired or sold.

FYI, MARC does not use the "-3S" variant of the MP36PH. They own the "-3C" variant. The "-3S" denotes a static inverter to produce HEP while the "-3C" denotes a Cummins auxiliary generator for HEP needs. The only operation that uses the "-3S" version is Chicago's Metra.
