What's the engineering/design rationale for having the number boards stick out over the windshields? Not sure whether to call it a "highbrow" or a "unibrow."

Aaron, I am not sure what the thought process was going on there when it came to designing this cab.... I do know that it is an NS designed cab, and the cab was built by Super Steel in New York for NS.

It is supposedly to cut down glare on the windows at night from the headlight. From what I hear they won't put the headlight on the nose either because it might burn the crews. Can't say I've heard that happening from other railroads with headlights on the nose.

Well this looks a bit different, but remember just like Es and Fs shortly after the end of steam it took awhile for us to get used to them, but we did. As for me, I think that I have a little soft spot in my heart for this engine. We'll just to see how the careers of these things play out. On another note, the hood over the windshield seems to remind me of the hairstyles of most if not all the characters on the FairlyOdd Parents. In this case I'm seeing Timmy and Cosmo.
