Nice one, Dean! But who flipped the panel upside-down on the 7312?! The "V" in the lightning stripe is just not right!

Nice shot Dean, propeller-driven planes are akin to steam engines!
|
I love over/under shots and that has to be one of the best I've seen. To catch one with such interesting composition is just spectacular. Great job!

Nicely captured! Two favorite past times....trains and planes (in that order too)!
|
Boy you got a nice prop there Deano! Great composition!

Great catch Dean. I was a navigator on C-130s for 3000 or so hours in the air. I would have to take issue with the other comment about how antiquated they are. Have that man check the specs on the J-model especially how far you can go on a gallon of fuel, and they are still in production. My candidate for the overall best airplane ever built, though they scared the crap out of me more than once. Thanks for the posting.

Very nice Deano! Good catch.

I have to agree with Sid about the 130 airframe. Look up the AC130 and many other variants to see just how versitile this plane is. From hurricanes to a variety of short take off and landing uses it is most useful. Congrats to Dean on framing an excellent shot of both modes of transportation.

The C-130 is considered one of the most versatile aircraft in the US Military. On the railroads, the EMD SD-40s and SD 40-2s have achieved a similiar reputation through years of reliable service and timely upgrades.

As as sometime pilot and holder of an A&P certificate, I would remind Mr Peacock that steam engines are no longer built, there are still plenty of prop-driven aircraft flying, both old and new.
